Pune
The city of Pune is situated near the western coast of India,approximately 115 miles south-east of Bombay.It is one of the many cities situated on the Deccan plateau. The Deccan, is a plateau forming the triangular portion of India, below the Tropic of Cancer. The east and west coasts of southern India comprise of tall mountain ranges; the Eastern and Western Ghats respectively. As one goes inland, these mountains form broken valleys and rolling uplands; eventually forming a large tableland, the basaltic Deccan plateau. This region has rich, fertile alluvial soil; making it famous for its wheat, sugarcane and cotton crops.
The distance of Pune from the coast is deceiving with respect to its climate and its height above sea level, which is 1500ft. This height owed to the fact that between Bombay and Pune, lies the Sahyadri mountain range, also known as the Western Ghats. Pune lies on lat. 18 30'N and long. 74 55'E.

Sholapur
Solapur is a major city of Maharashtra and is an important centre of Jains. The area, which now forms Solapur district, was formerly part of Ahmadnagar, Pune and Satara districts. It is influenced by its geography and the area is largely consists of plains. The river Bhima flows from northwest to the southeast and Sina River also flows from it.
